If Saturday is the Sabbath, why hasn’t more religious leaders seen it?

The Sabbath Since the Creation

Today, although some did not get the chance to know that Saturday is the Sabbath, this truth is not new. It is as old as creation: “And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made” (Genesis 2:2, 3).

The only document that was written by the very finger of God twice is the Ten Commandments (Deuteronomy 9:10; Exodus 31:18; 34:1). The fourth commandment states, “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it” (Exodus 20:8-11).

The Religious Leaders and the Truth

All through the history of the world, the truth has not always been fully accepted by the religious leaders. In the Old Testament, the prophets of God were persecuted and rejected for their warnings by the kings and the religious leaders of the temple. And at Jesus’ time, this rejection climaxed when the religious leaders rejected Christ’s message and finally crucified Him. John comments saying, “Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him?” (John 7:48).

The Mystery of Inequity

Since the early church, the mystery of corruption was working inside the church to defile the the truth (2 Thessalonians 2:7-9). Afterwards, paganism was adopted and the truth once again was abandoned. And during the Dark Ages, the reformers tried to reform the religious leaders of the church who have totally rejected salvation by faith, persecuted the saints, burned the heretics and hid the scriptures. The church was so corrupt that the truth was trampled and millions of martyrs died for their faith in the scriptures.

Who Changed the Sabbath From Saturday to Sunday?

Jesus, all the prophets and the disciples observed the seventh day Sabbath (Saturday). But the Catholic Church changed the observance of the seventh day Sabbath to the first day of the week. And this Church admits that this change has no biblical authority. For more on the change of the Sabbath, check this link: The Change of the Sabbath

The Holy Spirit Leads to All the Truth

For all the truth seekers, Jesus promised, “when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come” (John 16:13). And the true believers will certainly follow His voice. Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me” (John 10:27).
