From a Christian perspective, your identity should ultimately be rooted first in God and in the truth that you are created by Him and loved by Him. Genesis 1:27 teaches that God created humanity male and female, and Psalm 139 reminds us that He knows us deeply. At the same time, living in a fallen world means our emotions, desires, and self-perception can sometimes feel complicated or confusing.

So rather than repeatedly telling yourself, “I have to feel this or that,” try bringing the confusion honestly to God. You can pray something like, “Lord, help me understand myself clearly. Show me what is true, help me not be ruled by fear, and teach me how to live faithfully before You.”

If these feelings are causing you a lot of distress, confusion, or anxiety, it may be helpful to talk with a parent, a mature Christian counselor or trusted pastor who will listen carefully.

You do not need to pretend the feelings are not there, but you also do not have to let a label become the most important thing about you. Give yourself room to seek God, understand what you are experiencing, and make choices that are consistent with your faith.
