Is it wrong to ask God, end my life?
Sometimes in times of trial, you may pray, “God end my life.” But know this, God has a purpose for you. He knows what is best, even if what you are going through does not seem best. Jesus said, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” (Matthew 7:11).
We live in a fallen world that negatively affects our mental health. But you need to realize that God cares for you. For He is Your Loving Heavenly Father, who feels your pain and is touched by it. And He will do whatever it takes to relieve you from your pain if that is for your eternal benefit (Romans 8:28).
The Heavenly Father and Jesus loved greatly. God’s word says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). There is no greater love than that (John 15:13).
God does not tempt you above you can bear. The apostle Paul wrote: “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Trust in the One that loved you
Do not feel discouraged and harbor suicidal thoughts. Taking matters in your hands is sinful and leads to eternal death. First: it is breaking God’s commandments which says, “thou shalt not kill” (Exodus 20:13). And Second: it shows lack of faith in His excellent care of His children. And without faith, we cannot be saved (Hebrews 11:6). Therefore, you need to wait for God, trust in his love, and allow Him to guide you. And when it is time for you to go, He will do the call but not you.
God promised, “Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full” (John 16:24). The Lord wants you to enjoy life. “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11). So, let your trust and love for God fill your mind for only your Creator can restore your joy.
Therefore, do not lose hope for this is the work of the enemy – the devil. He knows that if he makes you lose hope and end your life, he has sealed your destiny forever with him. And this way he wins by breaking God’s heart over the loss of you.
Look up
God has chosen you. He has plans for you here on earth (Jeremiah 29:11). You need to let Him reveal it to you through His Word (Psalm 25:4). Jesus is your best friend (Romans 5:8). He is the Creator of the Universe and all that is out there belongs to Him and He will not withhold any good thing from you (Psalm 84:11). He declared, “I have loved you with an everlasting love” (Jeremiah 31:3).
Unfortunately, the struggles of this life is the only way we can grow and become more like Him (James 1:2-4). The Bible is full of examples of people who wanted to die, but God used them for good. Elijah was one of the greatest prophets to live. He asked God to end his life after being discouraged (1 Kings 19:4). But God told him he was not going to do that yet.
Sometime after that experience, Elijah did a great work for the Lord. And he was rewarded by God, who took him up to heaven in a chariot of fire (2 Kings 2). If Elijah’s prayer were answered, he would have never had that incredible experience of the great victory over the powers of darkness at Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18:16-45). That victory restored the nation of Israel to worship of God.
Please pray, Lord Jesus Christ lift my soul and fill my heart with Your loving Spirit that I may have hope, peace, and joy. In Your holy name I ask. Amen.
