Signs in the Heavens

Are you getting ready for the Perseids, which periodically shower the night skies with meteors, or “falling stars,” that will reach their August peak this weekend?

Thousands of astronomers and regular folks will head for the hills, deserts and other remote spots for star-gazing parties which will be clear to the naked eye nearly anywhere in the U.S.

The Bible predicted end time signs in the Heavenly bodies:

“Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.”Matthew 24:29

But did you know that these signs have already been fulfilled. Check the facts:

About the darkness of the Sun, Webster’s Unabridged Dictionary (edition 1883) says:

The Dark Day, May 19, 1780—so called on account of a remarkable darkness on that day extending over all New England…. The obscuration began about ten o’clock in the morning, and continued till the middle of the next night…. The true cause of this remarkable phenomenon is not known.”

In connection with this extraordinary phenomenon, the moon was reported to appear red. The cause was disputed and the exact cause has never been settled. (Letter signed “Viator” in Independent Chronicle – Boston- , May 25, 1780, P.2; see also the Pennsylvania Evening Post – Philadelphia –June 6, 1780, P.62)

As for the falling of stars prophecy, “The morning of November 13th, 1833, was rendered memorable by an exhibition of the phenomenon called SHOOTING STARS, which was probably more extensive and magnificent than any similar one hitherto recorded. . . “–Denison Olmsted, “Observations on the Meteors of November 13th, 1833,” The American Journal of Science and Arts, 25 ([Jan.?] 1834), 363, 365, 366, 386, 393, 394.

” The early morning hours of Nov. 13, 1833. . . For nearly four hours the sky was literally ablaze . . . . More than a billion shooting stars appeared over the United States and Canada alone.” –Peter M. Millman, “The Falling of the Stars,” The Telescope, 7 (May-June, 1940), 57.

Jesus is coming very soon.
