How Will Jesus Come?

Overview

How will Jesus come again? Will His return happen secretly, as some believe, or will the whole world witness His second coming?

In this Bible-based message, Michael Tuazon examines what Scripture reveals about the return of Jesus Christ. Drawing from 2 Peter 3:10, Matthew 24:27, 1 Thessalonians 4:16, and Revelation 1:7, he explains why Christ’s second coming will be a visible, audible, and unmistakable event rather than a secret occurrence.

Watch the video below or read the full transcript to discover what the Bible teaches about Jesus’ return and why being spiritually prepared for His coming matters.

A commonly asked question is, “How do I know that Jesus will come?”

There are a lot of people who say that Jesus is going to come secretly. Maybe you’ve heard about something such as a secret rapture.

I want to share with you what the Bible says about the return of Jesus Christ.

First off, let’s start in 2 Peter 3:10. The Bible says here:

“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night.”

That’s where some people misunderstand His second coming. They think because He’s coming as a thief in the night that it will be in secret, but they forget to read on.

The Bible says:

“In the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise.”

Does that sound like a secret to you? I don’t think so.

“And the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.”

You see, beloved, the secret rapture is only a secret to those who are not prepared. His coming will come as a thief in the night only to those who are not expecting it.

Now, I’m going to give you a couple of Bible verses that will help you to know that Jesus’ return is imminent and that He’s coming very soon.

Matthew 24 is a great chapter regarding the end times and the second coming.

Now, some people want to know what to look for when Jesus comes. Matthew 24:27 says this:

“For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”

When you look up in the sky and see lightning, you notice that it spreads across the entire sky. The Bible likens lightning to the coming of Jesus Christ.

Let me give you another passage. Let’s go to 1 Thessalonians 4. First Thessalonians 4, verses 15 and 16.

It says this in verse 16. Let’s read there:

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.”

Notice that the second coming is a loud event.

What is a trumpet used for? You don’t hear a trumpet used for a lullaby. You don’t hear someone serenading their wife with a trumpet.

A trumpet is used to wake people up, and that’s what it will be used for in the second coming.

So we see that the second coming will be a visible event. We see that it will be a loud event.

Now watch this. Revelation 1:7.

Here’s what the Bible says:

“Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him.”

That means you and me. Every eye shall see Him come.

It says:

“And they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him.”

So when Jesus comes, it will be loud. It will be visible, and every eye will see Him.

I hope that helps you understand the second coming of Jesus.
