What it does

BibleAsk Verse Tooltip finds plain Bible references in your posts and pages and turns them into links to the matching passage on BibleAsk.org. References in parentheses, such as (Colossians 3:3), are supported too.

  • Auto-links book + chapter, book + chapter:verse, and verse ranges
  • Leaves existing links alone, and can skip headings
  • Optional hover tooltip with the reference, a BibleAsk link, and verse text
  • Apply to posts, pages, or both; open links in a new tab or the same tab
  • Verse text is fetched from BibleAsk.org and cached, so repeat hovers stay fast
  • JavaScript and CSS ship with the plugin — no third-party CDNs

Install

  1. Install from WordPress.org, or upload the zip. The plugin directory is bibleask-verse-tooltip.
  2. Activate BibleAsk – Verse Tooltip under Plugins.
  3. Open Bible References in the sidebar (or Settings → Bible References) to choose posts and/or pages, tooltips, and branding.
