The Bible does not say that Esther and the king of Persia had any children.
Esther became queen after King Ahasuerus, also known by many as Xerxes, removed Vashti from her position (Esther 2:16–17). Esther later played a courageous role in saving the Jewish people from Haman’s plot of destruction (Esther 4:14–16; Esther 7:3–6). However, the book of Esther never mentions Esther having a son or daughter with the king.
The Bible records many details about Esther’s rise as queen, her relationship with Mordecai, her bravery in approaching the king, and the deliverance of the Jews. But it is silent about whether she had children. Because Scripture does not say, we should not claim as fact that she did or did not have children.
Some historical discussions about Persian kings mention royal heirs, but the Bible does not identify any child of Esther. The main purpose of the book is not to trace Esther’s family line, but to show how God providentially preserved His people, even though His name is not directly mentioned in the book.
Esther’s legacy, therefore, is not recorded through children, but through faith, courage, wisdom, and her willingness to risk her life for God’s people. Mordecai told her, “who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14). Esther accepted that calling and became an instrument of deliverance.
So, the honest Bible answer is that Scripture does not tell us whether Esther and the king of Persia had children. What it does tell us is that God used Esther in a powerful way to protect His people and preserve the line through which the Messiah would come.
