The New Age Philosophy
The New Age philosophy is a range of spiritual or religious practices and beliefs which rapidly grew in late 20th century Western society. These beliefs are adapted from a variety of ancient and modern cultures, that emphasize beliefs (such as reincarnation, holism, pantheism, and occultism) outside the mainstream, and that advance alternative approaches to spirituality and living. The New Age philosophy promotes at least two deceptive lies that will play a major role in the end-time scenario. These are:
A-Reincarnation
Reincarnation is a teaching that the soul never dies but is instead continually reborn in a different kind of body in the following generations. This New Age belief in an immortal, undying soul that can communicate with people on earth is the same old false teaching that Satan introduced to Eve in Eden: “Ye shall not surely die” (Genesis 3:4). This teaching is contrary to the scriptures that teach a “it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).
The Bible teaches that after death a person: returns to dust (Psalms 104:29), knows nothing (Ecclesiastes 9:5), possesses no mental powers (Psalms 146:4), has nothing to do with anything on earth (Ecclesiastes 9:6), does not live (2 Kings 20:1), waits in the grave (Job 17:13), and continues not (Job 14:1, 2) until the resurrection of the dead at the end of time (1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17; 1 Corinthians 15:51–53). When people believe that the dead are alive, “spirits of devils, working miracles” (Revelation 16:14) posing as spirits of the dead, will appear with unbiblical messages to deceive people (Matthew 24:24). Therefore, through reincarnation, channeling, communication with spirits, spirit worship, Satan will snare the world away from God and His Word.
B-Pantheism
Pantheism teaches that God is everything and everyone and that everyone and everything is God. And since God is impersonal, the New Ager doesn’t have to worship Him. Pantheism also teaches that there are no absolutes because there is no distinction between good and evil. In this philosophy, man creates his own reality through his mind. Although the Bible teaches that God is everywhere, He is clearly not everything. Also, humanity was created in the image of God, therefore, mankind is not and never will be God (Genesis 1:26-27). The Bible speaks against pantheism and condemns it as idolatry.
Those that adopt the New Age philosophies are in a world that is totally opposed to the biblical view of God. The New Age philosophies will lead people to reject God at the end and alien with Satan. Our only safety is in following the teachings of the Bible (Psalm 119:105). The Lord instructs, “To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them” (Isaiah 8:20).
