Animals in the New Earth

The Bible does indicate that there will be animals in the New Earth. In the book of Isaiah we read about the Messiah’s kingdom where, “The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze; their young ones shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The nursing child shall play by the cobra’s hole, and the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper’s den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord” (Isaiah 11:6-9).

And then again in Isaiah 65:25 it says that in God’s new future kingdom, “The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, the lion shall eat straw like the ox, and dust shall be the serpent’s food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain,” Says the Lord.”

In the first Garden of Eden, God gave Adam all the animals to appreciate and take care of. And the Lord said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth” (Genesis 1:28). Likewise, in the restored garden of Eden, God will give the human race all the animals once again. The redeemed will find complete happiness which will include the loving companionship of the animals.

People who lost their pets often wonder if they will see their pets in the New Earth. The Lord promised, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9). So, the Lord will satisfy the desires of His children in a way that far exceeds their dreams and expectations.
