All right, so Khan is asking Moses died presumably around 1450 BCE. And Malachi existed around 400 BCE during this period of 1000 years. Hundreds of prophets must be known to the Jews during this time period. But the Bible records the books of only 16 Hebrew profits. What was the reason?

Speaker 2

So, my friend, Con, when you’re talking about only 16 profits, I’m assuming you’re talking about the major and minor prophets of the Old Testament. However, I would say that there’s a lot more than 16 prophets that are mentioned in the Bible between the time of Moses until the time of did you say Malachi or Micah? Either one. There was definitely more than 16 prophets listed in the Bible. So if you go back to the time of Moses, even Moses sister Miriam, she was a prophetess. You see that in Exodus chapter 15. She doesn’t have a book, but she was a prophet. There are other prophets of God that were mentioned as well. Later on, we see David, who became the first king, and the prophet that was during his time was the prophet Samuel. And you see that earlier in the book of first and second Samuel. And then if you look in the books of first and second kings, you see profits as well. Like Elijah and Elijah, there are many profits during that time, or those were the big profits during that time. And so there was other profits even before, just after, between the time of Moses and the time of David.

Between those two times, there was a prophet Deborah. And so there’s prophets and prophetesses that are throughout the Bible. They don’t always have their own book, but there are definitely God spokes people throughout the Old Testament time. And the thing is too that I just want to know, because you asked for a reason why it seems like there’s not that many of God’s profits between this zero year period. There’s definitely more than 16. I will tell you that if you go through the Old Testament and read, there’s a few other profits other than, you know, the ones in the major profits like Jeremiah, Isaiah, Daniel and the minor prophets like Malachi, Obadaya and so on. I think the reason, though, as far as maybe why they’re not all listed, because I’m sure maybe there are people who spoke for God. It was only the message of certain prophets that would last for God’s people throughout all time. That’s why the Bible was written, because God wanted to make sure that his truth was carried out through forgot people through all the time. And that’s because God does not change Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever, like you read about in Hebrews chapter 13.

So God’s message from the beginning that God created the world, that he prophesied that there would be Messiah, that this Messiah would come. He came with Jesus Christ and then his disciples and prophets after that continued to relay that same message of the Gospel, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory, basically, that we’re following people, we’ve sinned. God sent his only son Jesus as the Messiah. We trust in Him and we try to become like Him and as we allow Him in our heart and he does the work in us that allows us to be in connection with God. And that’s how we have salvation. And it’s the same message of righteousness by faith that we trust God by faith for his righteousness. And that’s how we come into a saving relationship with Him. To just kind of summarize it or just one last point too, is there’s I think prophets and people will prophesy until Jesus second coming. And you see that in the Book of Joel, chapter two, verse 28, talking about just before Jesus comes. And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy and your old men will dream dreams and your young men shall see visions.

Speaker 2

So God’s people are going to have there’s going to be the select amount of God’s people. They’re going to continue to prophesy and have visions and have dreams and share God’s messages with people up until Jesus comes, because God is always in the business of saving people and as long as God’s people are willing, he’s going to use his messengers here on earth. And so I will just kind of close with that. I’m sure there’s many other Jewish or Hebrew prophets in the Old Testament. I’m not sure, but they’re very possible. And like I said, I think it’s just God only put certain things in the Bible because those were truths that were to be carried out till the end of time. Whereas I’m sure there’s other things that other prophets have said that was just true for that time. It was the present truth. And so and just like the time we live in now, I think there’s people who speak on behalf of God, who have truth that we need to think about for our present time, because the time we’re living is the time of the end. And so the message to God’s people now should be that, hey, we need to get ready to see Jesus because it’s coming as soon as what we see based on the prophecies of the Bible.

Speaker 2

So with that, I will hope that answers your question and close with that thought. J or Wendy. Anything else?

Speaker 1

Oh, that’s well said. Amen.
