John is asking what was the very first action of faith shown by a person? Who was it and what was the purpose of the faith action?

Speaker 1

Thank you. Wow.

Speaker 3

What a cool question to follow. Repentance.

Speaker 1

Right.

Speaker 3

That faith comes.

Speaker 2

I like it.

Speaker 3

Next.

Speaker 1

Thank you. We can post Genesis chapter three and we can read versus 15. Genesis chapter three versus 15 and 21 reads, And I will put MDT between you and the woman and between your seed and her seed he shall bruise your head and you shall bruise his heel. Verse 21 also for Adam and his wife, the Lord God made tunics of skin and clothed them. The context of verses 15 is that Adam and Eve, the first sinless pair, are first parents placed in a beautiful garden actually forfeited their place as rulers of this Earth by taking of the fruit of the tree, of the knowledge of evil against the explicit command of God. And because of that they were now subject to the consequences of their sin and that was ejection from the Garden of Eden also broken Communion with the Father and the Holy Angels. Last but not least and probably most important, the potential for eternal death. But God had a caveat. Now I love caveats in.

Speaker 3

Bad news, right.

Speaker 1

And the caveat in verses 15 was that God was saying, you know what, I know you sinned and now you’re placed under the Dominion of the enemy and now the enemy will actually be able to exercise his power over you so that you will not be able to resist his temptation. But I’m going to give you an antidote. And that antidote is entity, meaning that God is now giving us still the power free choice that we still will be able to resist the enemy and his temptations. In our day, we still will be able to resist the tantalizing fruit of the trio of the knowledge of good and evil in our life, that we’ll have a second chance and once we resist through God’s strength we will actually be able to conquer where Adam and Eve failed. So Adam and Eve were able to exercise faith that that enmity which God had placed was going to save them and that they would have a second chance to be reunited with the Father, to have Communion with God and to actually live eternally again. Yes, they did die, but it’s only asleep. So that is the very first act of faith that God gave them a promise and it was for them to act upon that promise and to kind of symbolize that promise something had to die.

Speaker 1

So this is why in verse 21 of Genesis three it says that unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord make coats of skins and cloth them. So God had to allow an animal to take the place of Adam and Eve and they had to give something of their body to clothe Adam and Eve. Now, the last verse I wanted to mention, I know it’s kind of a little bit winded is actually Genesis, chapter four, verses four.

Speaker 3

Genesis four, chapter four. And it says enable.

Speaker 1

He also brought up the first links of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto able and to his offering. So here we have not only did Adam and Eve exercise faith that God would deliver them and that they would be able to symbolize that by sacrifice, but here we have is their son, their second son. Able also had faith that God would deliver them. Hopefully that’s enough for an explanation to that question of who was the very first person to act upon faith.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I think you’re exactly right, Wayne. And I can tell you what I think should have been the first act of faith. If we go to Hebrews eleven one, it says Hebrews eleven, verse three. It says through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God so that things which are seen were not made by things which do appear. But what happened is there was a test then to see if Adam and Eve really believed that that they really believe God is God, that God is love, that everything God said to them is true. And there was a test. And how did they do on that test? They bought it. Yeah, here we are in sin. So, yeah, they had to then exercise faith after sin and we have all the problems we do.

Speaker 1

Faith. I believe faith is only prerequisite for those who’ve sinned in a way or who are faced with the ability to question God’s goodness. And because Adam and Eve questioned God’s goodness and they failed, now they had to actually exercise faith to say, you know what? God is still good and he’s still good enough to save me.

Speaker 2

It’s not just that they question his goodness, but then they actually doubted it and acted on that doubt, right?

Speaker 1

Yes, exactly. And we know that faith will not forever exist because in one Corinthians 13 it says that faith, hope and love, these three will last till the end. But the greatest of these is lovely. Faith is also kind of like an inclusion of love as well. Amen.
