Considering how difficult it can be to comprehend this mystery, it may be helpful to consider the Godhead as one rope with three united strands. While there is God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are also referred to as God (Titus 2:13; Acts 5:3, 4). These three are perfectly united in their goal of saving and sustaining us (1 John 5:7; Hebrews 9:14) and these three maintain distinct roles in the Godhead (2 Corinthians 13:14).
God’s love for sinners led Him to sacrifice His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to save humanity from death (Romans 5:8). It is the essence of love to sacrifice for others (John 3:16). For this reason, Jesus taught that the believers are to come directly to the Father in His name acknowledging His infinite gift of love (Hebrews 4:16; John 14:16).
After His great sacrifice on the Cross, Christ now serves as our great High Priest in the heavenly Sanctuary (Hebrews 8:1,2; 4:14…etc.). The Father hears the believers’ prayers and grants them the merits and the grace of Christ to stand righteous before Him. Christ is the only way to heaven. There is no other means of salvation (Acts 4:12; 1 Timothy 2:5).
The Holy Spirit
The blessings that God bestows on His children come through the ministry of the Holy Spirit who speaks (Acts 8:29), teaches (2 Peter 1:21), guides (John 16:13), witnesses (Hebrews 10:15), comforts (John 14:16), helps (John 16:7, 8), and supports (John 14:16, 17, 26; 15:26-27). The Holy Spirit can also be grieved (Ephesians 4:30).
These three roles still unite in one mission, as a rope with three strands, to save humanity. There is still another added component to this rope and that is an order of authority, so to speak. The Father is the head (1 Corinthians 3:23;1 Corinthians 11:3) yet this does not in any way diminish from the divinity of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. The Son constantly receives His glory, power, throne, and prerogatives from the Father (John 3:35; John 5:22) and lives to glorify the Father. And the Spirit lives to glorify the Father and Son (John 17:1, 5; John 16:14; John 13:31, 32). This added component of complexity gives reason to the fact that we can not fully understand the concept of the Trinity. This term is a just a word that has been incorporated to try to understand this manifested principle.
