The Bible gives us the steps that are needed to convert to Christianity:
1-Accept God’s love for you:
The ultimate expression of divine love is the Father’s gift of His own Son. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). Through God’s redemption to man, it becomes possible for the believers to be “called the sons of God” (1 John 3:1). “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).
2-Confess and repent of your sins:
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). Recognizing the evil nature of sin and an understanding the factors that led to it are necessary in confession. We need to be specific when we confess our sins.
3-Receive forgiveness by faith:
Believe that: Christ died for you “That he … should taste death for every man” (Hebrews 2:9), Christ forgives you “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses” (Ephesians 1:7), and Christ saves you from eternal death for He declared, “he who believes in Me has everlasting life” (John 6:47).
4-Experience the miracle of changed life:
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). The new nature is the result of the work of God’s Spirit in the life, which results in the believer’s dying to sin and being born again. Thus, the believer is created anew in the likeness of Christ and set on a new direction (Ezekiel 36:26, 27; John 1:12, 13; Titus 3:5; James 1:18). By this divine power, the Christian is made partaker of the divine nature and is granted eternal life (2 Peter 1:4; 1 John 5:11, 12).
5-Obey God’s commandments by His power:
Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15). Obedience is the natural result of love. Christians don’t keep the commandments to be saved but because they are saved.
6-Maintain this victory through the daily study of scriptures and prayer:
“Search the scriptures” (John 5:39) and “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). The believer needs to be connected daily to Christ as the branch is connected to the vine (John 15:4).
7-Join God’s true church:
The Bible gives the description of the true church: “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus” (Revelation 14:12). God’s true Church will keep all of His commandments – including the seventh-day Sabbath of the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:8-11) – and it will have the faith of Jesus (Hebrews 11:6).
8-Get baptized:
“He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned” (Mark 16:16).
“if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).
10-You can be sure of your salvation:
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12). God is faithful to His promises (1 Corinthians 1:9).
A Prayer to invite God into the heart
To accept God’s salvation and start a relationship with the Lord you may begin with this prayer: “My heavenly Father, I accept Jesus Christ as a personal Savior and His blood as an atonement for my own sins. Come into my heart, live in me, and help me to walk according to Your Word. In Jesus’ Name I ask. Amen.”
