“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16)
2000 years ago, God proved His love for humanity by sending His only Son to earth. Jesus came to this dark world to save us and reveal the Father’s love. He said to the Father, “I have declared unto them thy name,”–“merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,” (John 17:26; Exodus 34:6).
Our tiny blue planet is the theater for the entire universe where God’s mystery love is displayed. Christ, who created the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth who hung the worlds in space, was born in a stable. This infinite love is the subject that the “angels desire to look” into (1 Peter 1:12).
Jesus came to save mankind from Lucifer’s death sentence. Lucifer desired to be first in heaven. He sought to gain control of the created beings, to draw them away from the Creator’s love. But thank God, Jesus came to deliver us from Lucifer’s grip and redeem us from pain and death.
Since Jesus came to dwell with us, we know that God is acquainted with our trials, and sympathizes with our griefs (Hebrews 4:13). Every human can see that our Creator is the friend of sinners. For in every doctrine of grace, every promise of joy, every deed of love, every divine attraction presented in the Savior’s life on earth, we see our heavenly Father’s compassion.
Christ was treated as we deserve, that we might be treated as He deserves. He was condemned for our sins, in which He had no share, that we might be justified by His righteousness, in which we had no share. He suffered the death which was ours, that we might receive the life which was His “With His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).
To assure us of His immutable love, God gave His only-begotten Son to become one of the human family, forever to retain His human nature. This is the pledge that God will fulfill His word “Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder” (Isaiah 9:6).
The sin sickness is forever healed. Through Christ’s redeeming work, the government of God now stands justified. The Creator is made known as the God of infinite love. Satan’s charges are refuted, and his character unveiled. Rebellion can never again arise. Sin can never again trouble the universe.
Our world, under the curse of sin the one dark blot in His glorious creation, will be honored above all other worlds in the universe of God because here is where the Son of God tabernacle in humanity “God with us” (Matthew 1:23).
