The Four Letters that can change the world!

The word ‘Love’ brings different images to one’s mind. For a child, it may be his parents or toys; for a teenager it might be his friends or sports; for a young man it could be his girl friend or movies; for a married guy it could be his family or  job; for an older person it might be his grandchildren or a leisurely activity. As the world celebrates Valentine’s day today, the most romantic day of the planet, it’s always good to meditate on its foundations. An online site defines it as: a day for the exchange of tokens of affection. To be more precise, it is the day people remember their loved ones; a day dedicated to the spirit of Love. Bible is also about such a spirited love relationship, but,  it is much more broader and wider in depth as well as everlasting in nature. In fact, it is compared to a husband and wife relationship.

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;”

Ephesians 5:25

The true definition of love is given by the spiritual author of Bible:

“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;  does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-7.

Jesus also gives us directions on how and where to exercise this power of Love

“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Mark 12: 30,31

Later He adds:

“If you love Me, keep My commandments

John 14:15

Let us thank our God by honoring His Will for us. True and genuine love will never forsake us; his Word is the guarantee:

” For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

John 3:16
