In the past 100 years there has been a literal explosion in the increase of knowledge. It is said that 80% percent of the world’s total knowledge has been brought forth in the last decade and that 90% percent of all the scientists who have ever lived are alive today. The inventions in the fields of electricity, automobiles, airplanes and computers have all taken place in our generation.
So, if the whole history could be condensed into just the last 24 hours, all the major inventions and discoveries would have happened in the last half-an-hour.
Mind boggling!
The Bible prophecy predicted that at, “… the time of the end… knowledge shall be increased.” Daniel 12:4.
– “In the nineteenth century, it took about fifty years to double the world’s knowledge. Today, the base of knowledge doubles in less than a year”. [‘Teaching and Learning In the Digital Age’ Report].
-A weekday of any major newspaper has more information than the average person living in the 17th century would have come across in a lifetime.
-About 1/2 million books are published each year.
– Since 1970 computer technology has developed so fast that if the auto industry had developed at the same rate, you would today be able to buy a Rolls Royce for three dollars!…and you could fit eight them on the head of a pin!
-The most basic building block of computer technology, the transistor, was invented at Bell Labs in 1948. In 1994 a computer chip could hold 3.1 million transistors. By the end of the decade, a chip will contain more than a billion transistors.
And the list goes on and on…
The point is, our generation has seen Bible prophecy getting fulfilled before our eyes.
Its high time to spend our energy in things that will last forever. We need, daily, to study the Scriptures, pray and share the hope of eternity with those that don’t know.
