The Bible – The Word of God

The Bible stands alone in that God left absolutely no room for doubt as to whether or not it is the real factual word of God. If a person takes an honest effort to examine the facts, he will find that the Bible is the divine Word. Let’s consider some facts briefly:

1-History

Unlike mythology, the Bible has a historical background. Its characters are real people living in verifiable places during historical events. For example, the Bible mentions Nebuchadnezzar, Sennacherib, Cyrus, Herod, Felix, Pilate, and many other historical figures. Its history coincides with that of many nations, including the Egyptian, Hittite, Persian, Babylonian, and Roman empires (see Are the historical statements of the Bible accurate?).

2-Geography

Unlike mythology, the events of the Bible took place in geographical areas such as Canaan, Syria, Egypt, Mesopotamia, and others.

3-Science

Unlike mythology, the Bible has many confirmations in sciences such as biology, geology and astronomy (see What are some of the scientific statements in the Bible?)

4-Archaeology

Unlike mythology, biblical archaeology shows hundreds of thousands of artifacts that have been discovered. Just one example: skeptics used the Bible’s references to the Hittite civilization as “proof” that the Bible was a myth. There was never any such people as the “Hittites” according to the science of the day. However, in 1876, the first of a series of discoveries was made, and now the existence of the ancient Hittite civilization is well documented. Archaeology continues to support the Bible’s historicity (see Does archaeology confirm the Bible?).

5-Fulfilled Prophecies

Unlike mythology, the Bible contains an astounding number of fulfilled prophecies. Myths do not have prophecy, but one third of the Bible is prophecy. The Bible contains over 1,800 predictions concerning more than 700 separate subjects found in over 8,300 verses. These miraculous prophecies could only be accomplished with the supernatural guidance of God who sees the end from the beginning (see How do we know that Jesus Christ is the Messiah that the Old Testament prophecies predicted?).

6-The Life And Miracles Of Jesus

Jesus healed all sickness in Israel (Luke 5:15-26), fed thousands of people (Luke 9:12-17), cast out demons (Luke 4:33-37), raised the dead (Luke 7:11-16), and had authority over nature (Luke 8:22-25). He said, “Do not believe me unless I do what my Father does. But if I do it, even though you do not believe me, believe the miracles, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father” (John 10:24-38). Even secular history outside the Bible testifies to Christ’s miracles (see Is there any historical evidence on the existence of Jesus of Nazareth?)

7-The Transformation Of Lives

Unlike mythology, the Bible has transformed countless number of lives. Believers around the world risk their lives every day to share with others the life-giving truth of this miraculous amazing book.
