Speaker 1

So Shannon is asking, is it a sin to ask an Archangel Michael to help us find something we lost?

Speaker 2

I’m jealous because I wanted this question.

Speaker 3

Tina, if you want to answer it, by all means, go for it, please.

Speaker 2

We’ve both are very passionate about the Archangel Michael topic, so I’m excited to hear what you’re going to say.

Speaker 3

No, honestly, I was just going to say brief, that it’s an interesting question because it’s not a clear cut answer. Because the thing is, is it wrong to pray to an angel? Yes. You don’t pray to angels, you don’t pray to saints. It says you only pray to God in heaven. However, Michael, the ark angel is not an angel. And we can show this, this will take like an hour just to do this Bible study. But I want to show you two quick verses in Daniel, chapter ten. And the first one is in Daniel.

Speaker 2

Ten starting maybe you should pause just for me to clarify. When you said Michael is not an angel, you’re saying he’s not an angel in the sense that we tend to think of these created beings that we classify as being angel.

Speaker 1

He’s not like the other angel.

Speaker 3

Yeah, exactly. Because the word angel simply means messenger. That’s all the word angel means. It’s a messenger. And there are God’s angels in heaven, they’re like Gabriel and all these other angels that are in heaven. And then there’s Lucifer, who was once a glorious angel who has fallen, and he took a third of the angels with them. So they’re fallen angels, which we call demons now. But when it comes to Michael the ark angel, the word ark angel simply means chief of the angels or head of the angels. So this Michael is not just any old angel, that’s a messenger from God. Michael, I believe, based on scripture, and there’s a lot I’m hoping jay, actually, you can go all the proof, but I want to show you two key verses at least that showed me when I was sitting in the book of Daniel and I was like, oh, this Michael archangel is not just an angel, this is Jesus. And again, I’m not speaking heresy. Jesus is God. Jesus is one with the Father. He is absolutely divine. He is God. He is without beginning of days or end of life. There are so many verses.

Speaker 3

Look at Hebrews Chapter one. You will see the Father actually tells Jesus, you are God and your throne is forever. Jesus is God. But the word Michael actually means one who is like God. That’s what the word, the name Michael means. And so when we look at scripture, it’s very interesting because like I said, when we see Michael kind of coming to the is my audio going to put again? Sorry. We see this clearly in Daniel, chapter ten and verse 13. So basically, this is where Daniel’s praying for an interpretation of a vision that he has. And it says in verse 13 says but an angel is coming to Daniel saying what happened? He says, but the prince of the kingdom of Persia wasted me one in 20 days. But lomichael, one of the chief princes came to help me and I remained there with the kings of Persia. Now, when I read this I was like, oh, Michael is one of the chief princes. But when you look at the actual Hebrew writing, those words aren’t there. So what you actually see is Michael one chief prince. And so basically this can only be Jesus.

Speaker 3

Jesus is the prince of peace, right? Basically we see that Jesus is the one chief prince, right, because he’s the son of God, he’s the only begotten of the Father. And you see this again that Michael has to be more than just a regular angel because again later in verse 21, this regular angel says to Daniel but I will show you that which is noted in the scripture of truth and there is none that holds with me these things but Michael your prince. So who would be the prince of Daniel? Daniel, obviously he refused to acknowledge any king. He went to the lions den in order to demonstrate his faithfulness to God. Then why would he call Michael your prince? This could only then be God the Father being his king, jesus being the prince of heaven and earth. And once Jesus came to the earth, died and rose again, we see Jesus come back into heaven as king of kings and lord of lords where he has a throne given to him forever. And you see that again in Hebrews chapter one. So again there’s many other verses where you see Michael and he’s doing things that are only things that God can do.

Speaker 3

You see him in the book of Jude where he’s fighting over the body of Moses and he said and the devil’s trying to basically accuse Moses, hey Moses. And he shouldn’t be resurrected. And Michael the archangel, which I believe again is Jesus says the Lord rebuke you and only God can overpower the devil. The devil is way too strong. And we even see here that the prince of Persia, which in Daniel ten is interpreted basically the devil was possessing this king and so the regular angel couldn’t withstand him. And so it was only Jesus that was able to overcome the devil. And so again when we see in Revelation chapter twelve where you see Michael fighting with the dragon which is again it says very clearly in that chapter which is the serpent of the devil and Satan, only Michael is able to overcome him and cast him out of heaven. And so again this is very powerful being that is basically again, I believe it’s the name that Jesus had before he came to the earth. It just means one who is like God. And when you look in Hebrews chapter one. It says that Jesus is the only begun of the Father, the express image of his person.

Speaker 3

And Jesus himself says in the book of John, verse 14, I believe it’s in verse eight where he says philip is saying, show us the Father and it suffices us. And Jesus says, you not been so long with me that you don’t understand this. Basically, if you’ve seen me, you’ve seen the Father. And of course Jesus reiterates that he and his Father are one. So I know that was kind of a tangent. So if you’re praying to Michael and in your mind you’re thinking that this is just a regular angel or like maybe a special angel, but not Jesus. No, you shouldn’t be praying to angels. You see that in the Book of Revelation, where remember John tried to bow down and worship the angel after he gave him the prophecy? He said, don’t do it. He said, Worship God. So we’re never to pray or worship angels in any way. We’re only to pray to God, and that’s how we have our prayers answered. But I do believe that Jesus is Michael, the chief of the angels, the commander of the army of heaven. And that’s just another name given to him. Jesus has a lot of names.

Speaker 3

Like if you look in Isaiah chapter nine, I believe it’s verse six, the famous one unto us the Son is born, unto us the child is given, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, the mighty God, the Everlasting Father. Jesus was given that name, the Prince of Peace. There’s so many names that Jesus has. And so again, I do believe that this name Michael is simply another name given to Jesus. And it’s only Jesus that you should pray to, because again, going back to John chapter 14 and verse six, jesus says, I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me. And Jesus says that this is life eternal in John 17 three, that they would know thee, the only true God in Jesus Christ to me ascent. So again, it’s only Jesus and the Father that we pray to. We only pray to the Father through Jesus Christ. That’s it. Did you want to get your thoughts on that?

Speaker 2

You covered it. Did you mention first thessalonians 416?

Speaker 3

If you want, by all means.

Speaker 2

I’ll just add that. So if you look at one, thessalonians 416, it says paul writes for the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first. So Paul saying God is going to shout with the voice of the archangel. And Jesus says in John 525 verily I say to you the hours coming and now is when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and they shall hear and remember it was Christ who spoke in Lazarus was raised from the dead. Price right there. The Bible is telling you Christ is the archangel, even just from this context here.

Speaker 3

Exactly. And it simply means that it doesn’t mean Jesus is just some regular angel. We’re never saying that Jesus isn’t God. Jesus is not one of his roles in his position of the Godhead is the commander of the angels. He is the commander of God. And you see that back in Joshua. Remember the story of Joshua where I don’t know if you’re going to bring that up, but yeah, basically where it says the angel of the Lord. And it’s in capitals because it’s very clear. And Joshua falls down and worships, and that angel doesn’t stop him. And so you see again, that the commander of the army of heaven. Thank God it’s Jesus Christ, so we can put our trust in Him and know that he’s all powerful and able to save us.

Speaker 2

And I think it’s important to really understand the roles of the Godhead. So the Father in one, Timothy 616, it talks about he’s dwelling in unimproachable light. So the Father is like, you can’t reach him. And Jesus says you have not seen his form. That’s John 537 and John 646. Not that anyone has seen the Father except he who is from God. So the Father sort of plays this role of this guy who’s unapproachable, he’s a super light. I mean, he’s like super duper God that we want, right? This guy that’s just totally beyond us and unapproachable. Christ is kind of the other God we want, right. Where he’s this guy who’s the Emanuel God like us. And as Paul says, this is Colossians two, verse nine. I think this is a very important verse. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. So Christ is God in bodily form. He walks around, he raised around and was with the angels. He was in their farm. You read the Old Testament, talks about the angel of the Lord. He’s in what our angel form is. But it’s always still described angels as looking like men, by the way.

Speaker 2

So they’re not that much different than us. In fact, Psalm says he made man just a little lower than the angels. God is sort of in divine form with Christ, but walking around like us in a body, that’s his role. He hangs out with us. He’s the guy that you could be chummy with. He’s with you. He’s that awesome God. And then you have the Spirit, which then is like the God in you, the God that’s kind of progressing everywhere. Seems a bit hard to have a relationship with them, but he’s in us and we’re in Him. So it’s just neat that you have all these bases covered with God, and God is more than what God would be, because God is a unity of several beings. And because of that, God can be loved, because then the different beings within God can love each other, support one another, and then God is showing us what love looks like by God being God and God being loved. And then God can also obey God’s law. So Jesus is obeying the law, showing us what it looks like to be a law, where at the same time, God the Father is being the one who controls the I don’t know, it’s mind blowing.

Speaker 2

Okay? I’m just saying that the concept of the Godhead is way beyond it is so wise, it’s so amazing. And we put God in a box and we try to say, oh, there’s only God is just this one way, and if anything is different than, oh, no, the Bible is wrong or something. No, we’re trying to put the Bible in the box. We’re trying to say what an angel is, and sorry.

Speaker 3

I think it’s so true, and I think that we have to understand that that’s why God says you need eternal life, because it’s going to take eternity. Even with all the years of eternity, we’re still going to be learning about God. We’re still going to be growing in our relationship with Him and in love with Him. And I think it’s just a beautiful thing. And I’m so grateful that he’s offering this free gift of salvation to us if we’ll just accept Jesus in our hearts. And so, yeah, thank you so much for that additional notes there, because I totally forgot about all that. But I do really quick, I see some sorry, some shout outs to some people I see a little bit.

Speaker 1

I wanted to dress one more thing with that question. So we focused all of that answer on the element of Michael the Archangel. But the other part of the question is about praying, about losing something. Is it okay to pray about something as small as I lost my key, they just helped me find it. That was the question that I really got out of it, reading it. And so is it okay to pray about these small, seemingly trivial things in our lives, to bring this to God?

Speaker 3

And the answer is yes. Bring it to Jesus. He cares about everything. Thank you so much. I didn’t even think of that. There’s three of us. We all have different perspectives, and that’s so cool.

Speaker 2

This is someone who prays for a better parking space, for driving late. Lord, please give us good parking space. I’m like, Why don’t you even go to trouble God with this? And all of a sudden, the perfect parking space opens up.

Speaker 3

Amen. But that’s beautiful. And the Bible says, pray without ceasing. And I think that’s so true because I believe prayer is the breath of the soul. And we’re praying about everything, even the littlest things. It just keeps you in touch. It’s just like when you guys are first dating. I know my husband and I, when we were first dating, I text him about, like, silly little things, you know what I mean? But I was just so happy just to get to communicate with him, even though it wasn’t a big deal. It was just like, oh, somebody put a taco bar in my mailbox today. I was like, look at this picture. And it was just to keep in touch and be in communication. And I love that. And I think that that’s really okay. That’s a really good sea, praying about the small things because God cares about every aspect of our lives. There’s nothing too small or anything that doesn’t affect if anything affects us, God cares. So, yes, by all means, pray to Jesus about your lost anything and I pray you find it very soon.

Speaker 2

Rachel jason has a great comment, or he gives us the first year.

Speaker 3

Which.

Speaker 1

Is, do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving present your request to God and the peace of God which transcends all understanding will bothered your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Speaker 2

Spot on, brother. Thank you, sister. Thank you.

Speaker 3

Rachel thank you so much.

Speaker 1

Yes, I just want to reiterate that, too, because I think a lot of people think that they can’t pray about the little things and they think that they can only pray about the big things, but then they get frustrated. And we get frustrated when the big things don’t get answered the way we wanted them to be answered. And when we do that, we’re really not giving God the chance. He always says that to be faithful in the little things. So isn’t he going to be faithful in the little things? He cares about the little things just as much as we do. So it’s in those little things that he often shows up for us. And the big things are great, too, but he’s happy to show up for us and the little things all the time as well.

Speaker 2

You just blew my mind.

Speaker 3

Amen. Beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing that. Wendy.
