Was God fair when my sister died?

Is God fair?

I am sorry to hear about the death of your sister, you have our deepest condolences. It is very common in such cases that people may ask: is God fair?

God created Adam and Eve perfect with the freedom to choose good or evil. They can choose to accept His love and trust Him or choose to disobey. Sadly, they chose to disobey. Because of sin, the world now has become under the curse of sin and death (Romans 5:12). “For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23).

But the One that truly paid the price for our sin is God Himself. Although we sinned, the Father offered His only Son to die so that we can live. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13). The good news is that Jesus came to change men’s hearts through the power of the Holy Spirit, and He does this for those that ask Him for salvation (2 Corinthians 5:17).

If God permits suffering and perplexity to come upon us, it is not to destroy us but to refine and sanctify us (Romans 8:17). “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). Nothing can touch the Christian except by our Lord’s permission (Job 1:12; 2:6).

And one day in the soon future, God will destroy sin and its consequences in this world and will make all things new (Revelation 21:5). “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away” (Verse 3,4).

In the eternal kingdom of glory, the nail prints in Jesus’ hand (Matthew 27:26; Mark 14:65; 15:15; Luke 22:63; John 19:1, 17, 18) will be a perpetual reminder of God’s infinite love and His great sacrifice. “And one will say to him, ‘What are these wounds between your arms?’ Then he will answer, ‘Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends’” (Zechariah 13:6).
