How to Renew the Mind
A Christian can renew his mind after falling away from God by following few simple steps:
First
A believer needs to come to the Lord as he is. The Lord promised that He will not reject anyone. Jesus said, “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37). And the very fact that he has the desire to be with God means that the Holy Spirit is already working in his heart to bring him closer to God.
Second
Like the branch that is connected to the tree for life, a person needs to be connected daily to the Lord through the study of scriptures, prayer and witnessing. Once he cuts his connection with God, he will wither and die spiritually. So, the most important thing is to keep the fire of the Holy Spirit burning in his mind. The Bible teaches that by looking at Jesus, a person gets changed into His likeness. “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the LORD” (2 Corinthians 3:18). So, a person needs to focus his mind on the Lord not the world.
If a Christian wants to live right, he must think right. The development of Christian character requires right thinking. Therefore, Paul outlines a constructive program for mind activity. Instead of thinking about differences with others, or being anxious about daily needs, you should exercise your mind on positive virtues.Keep the avenues of the mind pure “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” (Philippians 4:8).
Third
A believer needs to fellowship with those that love the Lord because fellowship with the believers strengths the soul. “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). If a person walks in the light he walks with the Lord and will have fellowship with all others who are walking in God’s path. The believe will walk in unity with the members of God’s body.
