Homosexuals used to feel discriminated against before they got marriage equality. But aren’t they right, especially in a secular society?

It is not up to Christians to permit or not permit homosexuals to marry in our secular world. These decisions are subject to the governments. Different countries have different legal laws, and it is these legal laws that set the boundaries of marriage.

The Old Testament Scriptures teach that homosexual activity is a against God’s order (Genesis 19:1-13). The Lord commanded saying, “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination” (Leviticus 18:22 also 20:13).

And in the New Testament we have the same message: “For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due” (Romans 1:26-27).

Paul added, “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites” ( 1 Corinthians 6:9).

Therefore, Christians are to stand in disapproval to the laws which are in opposition to God’s Word. In this case, they are to stand in disapproval to homosexual marriages. They should speak out that the homosexual sins should never be promoted in society. Also, they should share God’s truths and make their stand known in publications and in voting.

Because the secular world doesn’t support the Biblical views, Christians who stand for the truth, will be persecuted for their beliefs. But the Christians’ loyalty should be to God alone. And they should act in a way that will bring glorify to His Name (Isaiah 44:3).

God commands Christians to love Him first: “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind” (Matthew 22:37). And also they are to love one another: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22: 39). Therefore, Christians should pray for the salvation of the homosexuals as well as for forsaking their sins. However, loving one another does not mean that Christians should support their sin.
