This is yours, Tina.

Alright, I was asking, does the Bible prohibit wearing face masks in public?

Speaker 1

Ok, so biblical, obviously there’s not thou shalt or thou shalt not on this logic we’re talking about. But if you go to the book of Romans chapter 13 and verses one and two, I think this gives us a good principle to go by. Again, Romans chapter 13, verses one and two, it says let every soul be subject unto the higher powers or to the government, for there is no power but of God and the powers that are ordained of God. So basically God allows this government to happen. And verse two, it says whosoever therefore resists the power, resists the ordinance of God and they resist shall receive unto themselves damnation. Now obviously if the law of the land goes against the law of God, we are to obey the law of God. As Bible believing Christians, just like Daniel in chapter six, when the law of the Meads and the Persians was to pray only to the King for 30 days, Daniel was like, no, keep praying to the true God of heaven. And that’s what he did. And he faced a death penalty for it. And that was he’d rather die than sin, which is break one of God’s Commandments.

Speaker 1

But when there’s a law that does not call us to obey does not cost to disobey God’s law, then we need to even if we don’t agree with everything 100%, we still need to obey the law of the land. And wearing a face mask is not unlimited equal in any way. Actually there’s some good principles to it to prevent the spreading of disease. I know in the law of Moses there are laws of quarantine. And so the Bible was very God was really smart in how God showed us how to prevent disease. That’s why the lepers were put in their own colony to be quarantined. If there is a pandemic going on, we should be careful not to spread this disease around. And some people will argue about how effective a face mask is, whether or not that’s 100% true. But I remember before this pandemic happened, my doctor, when she was sick, she would wear a face mask to prevent her patients from getting sick from her. And so I think there’s nothing wrong with it. There’s nothing unbiblical about it. And if a place is requiring it from you, I don’t think that’s a Hill you need to die on, just wear face mask.

Speaker 1

That’s my personal opinion. Just again, opening the law of the land and also just being a courtesy to other people. I think there’s some truth in that. Even if maybe you don’t totally agree with wearing a mask for whatever reason, if other people feel more comfortable with you wearing one, I think it’s just courtesy. So yeah, those are my thoughts on that. Do you have another thoughts?

Speaker 2

I agree with that. If you have a medical reason and you can’t wear a mask. I think there’s stuff usually in place where you could get a doctor’s note. I mean, that’s a place where maybe it makes sense. Right. So I agree what you said there, Tina, about we have bigger Hills to die on. Yeah. We have some serious issues that threaten God’s people on the horizon. And if we really look behind the scenes, is Satan trying to make Christianity look really stupid? Is Satan really trying to pin us around by making us take positions that, again, are going to compromise us and have us have problems on things that really do matter? And I know it’s tough. Right, because we also need to stand and draw the line at times when the government goes too far. And yeah, we should be voting, we should be speaking. But yeah, when it comes to actually breaking the law, that is a different realm altogether.

Speaker 3

And I think it’s important to note, too, that there are people who have medical issues with wearing a mask. And I think we have to be mindful of what kind of mask we wear and how often we clean it or how long we wear it before we clean it, because our breath does cast off a lot of impurities and we should be breathing clean air. And so there are a lot of considerations that go into it. But to take this stance that I should never wear a mask because it’s not in the Bible telling me to wear a mask, that doesn’t really make sense either.

Speaker 1

I’m sorry. I just thought of this instance because during the whole cloven pandemic, I was pregnant. And I remember being really worried about catching something, even if it wasn’t cobalt. I just didn’t want to get sick. And I was actually wearing a mask before all the time before the pandemic hit, and everyone was like, Are you sick? I’m like, no, I’m pregnant, and I don’t want to get sick. But I remember one time being at Walmart, and this guy coughed right next to me. He didn’t even care. But I was like, Then I saw he had a mask on, and I was like, thank you, God, he was wearing a mask. Because I was like, that didn’t sound like a healthy home at all. I was just glad it was contained.

Speaker 2

In a precoveted. We did not like flying on airplanes, because every other time you have some virus, the person behind is coughing on you.

Speaker 3

I don’t know if you’ve noticed this, but recently we were in an area that had a lot of people. We were passing through an area that people were packed in pretty close, right. And we were wearing masks. Everybody else was wearing masks. And I noticed something about this experience that often times when I’m in the past, when I’ve been in these crowded spaces, there’s all these funky smells from people’s breath that is coming out into the space because you’re walking so close to people, you smell it and sometimes you smell like sickness or decay coming from people’s breasts because of oral health issues or infections or whatever. And it was so nice actually to walk through that space without any of those kinds of smells. And I was like, that’s really interesting that everyone having a mask on actually prevented that sort of putrification sitting in the air and asked me not to stop everything.

Speaker 2

But even the idea of stopping a lot of people in a small space without going airflow, that’s just a bad idea.

Speaker 3

Yeah. Agreed.
