Let’s see. So Jill is asking, does God actually reference the term Rapture or was that name given by man?

Speaker 2

Yeah, if you look in the Bible, I looked at basically every translation possibly come up with. And there’s only one version of the Bible it uses the word Rapture. And that’s like the BBE, which I think that’s the basic Bible in English version. And it uses the word Rapture in the sense of a state being caught up in a state of ecstasy. So for example, Psalm 28 seven, it says, the Lord is my strength and my breastplate, my heart and faith in him and I am helped for this cause my heart is full of rapture. And then Psalm 40 515 in the BBE version it says with joy and rapture, when they come, they will go into the king’s house. Besides this, you’re not going to see the word Rapture anywhere. So Rapture is basically like the millennium, Trinity, second coming, all these other terms that we Christians use all the time that do not appear in the Bible. But yet those terms have a biblical basis, right? I mean you can see Father, Son, Holy Spirit used many times throughout the Bible. You can see lots of references to when Jesus will reappear. And then there’s this period of 1000 years talked about in Revelation and say a lot of other places that is clearly millennium is a thing, it’s just not that word used for it.

Speaker 2

So is there still a concept of Rapture in the Bible? And I hear people all the time ask me, do you believe in the Rapture? And honestly I never know how to answer that because I think the Rapture is one of those terms where humans apply a lot of meaning to it that actually might not be biblical. So if we talk about Raptor in a sense that will God come and take people away someday to heaven to dwell with them? Okay, yes, that is biblical. We see that in one, thessalonians 416 to 17 it says, for the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout. So it’s going to be really loud with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and thus we shall always be with the Lord. Revelation 1414 to 16 it says, And I looked and behold a white cloud, and on the cloud set one like the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and on his hand a sharp sickle.

Speaker 2

And another angel came out of the temple crying with a loud voice to him who sat on the cloud, thrust in your sickle and reap for the time has come for you to reap or the harvest of the earth is ripe. So he who sat on the cloud, pressing the siphole on the earth, and the earth was reapply. You might not so much hear the term rapture, but we actually more see the term reaping or harvest actually being used to refer to the gathering of God’s people. And then Matthew 13 Jesus tells a story of the good seeds and the tears and how they grow up together. And then the time comes where at the time of harvest they will gather up the tears, and then they also gather up the good seeds, the good wheat, and then burn the tears. And disciples like, what does this mean, Jesus? And Jesus explains that. Matthew 18 sorry. Matthew 1338 he says, the field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tears are the sons of the wicked one. The enemy who sow them is the devil. And actually this is a great story, talking about how the devil actually was the one who sowed sin and God wasn’t the originator of it.

Speaker 2

The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. So very consistent. Again, if you look Matthew 24 29 through 31, immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars will fall from Heaven, and the powers of heavens will be shaken. And Revelation talks about how the sky would be rolled up like a scroll. And actually not just Revelation that comes from the Old Testament, then the sign of the Son of man will appear in heaven. You see that cloud coming, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the glory of the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory, and he will send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of Heaven to the other. In all these verses, is there anything to suggest that this rapture is secret? Absolutely not. Heavens are going to melt, melt away. I haven’t quoted other verses on that.

Speaker 2

There’s going to be earthquakes, mountains are going to be wiped out, they’re going to melt like wax, sun would be darkened. People will notice that. And it says, every eye will see Him coming, and then he’ll gather the people. It’s not going to be missed. But there’s lots of verses that say the day of the second coming will be like a thief in the night. It’s not saying God is going to come like a thief in the night. No, the day of his coming will sneak up on people like a thief in the night. It’s going to come with people don’t expect it. So it’s not going to be a secret, it’s going to be a surprise. A lot of people are going to be caught off guard. And when you go to look at all these verses where it says and then some people will be taken somewhere left, the people who are taken are not the righteous in these contexts, like of Matthew 24, Luke 17, these verses, if you carefully read it, the ones who are taken are the wicked. And the same word used for taken away, swept away is the same language used to describe the wicked who are taken away in the flood and to describe the inhabitants of Soda and Gomorrah who were taken away when God destroyed those cities.

Speaker 2

And as Jesus says, where Lord? If we look at Luke 17, verse 35, it says two women will be grinding together, one will be taken, the other left, two men will be in the field, one will be taken, the other left. And they answered and said to them, where Lord? So he said to them, wherever the body is, there, the eagles will be gathered together. He’s not talking about there about the righteous, no, he’s talking about the feast of the birds, which Revelation 1921 talks about, where it says the rest were killed with a sword coming out of the mouth of the rider on the horse and all the birds gorge themselves on their flesh. So the ones who are taken in lot of these verses are the wicked. But there will be a reaping. There will be a gathering of God’s people. They will be raptured and taken up to heaven at the time of the second coming and everybody’s going to know when that happens. But not everybody is going to expect it. Some will be surprised and it would be just like surprise you when they break into your house when you least expect it.

Speaker 2

That’s how the second coming is going to be for a lot of people. God doesn’t want you to be surprised, he loves you, he doesn’t want you to be surprised.

Speaker 1

Amen. Yeah, I think that’s such an important message to understand today because there’s so many false doctrines out there and we have to be really careful because Jesus warned us. Read in Matthew 24 when Jesus talks about the end of the world, he says be careful that you don’t be deceived. He says even very left will be deceived if it were possible. The deceptions are really real out there and there’s so many Hollywood movies and things that are made to influence people in mainstream Christianity and things I remember.

Speaker 2

When I just say basically everything mainstream now potentially could be not good. Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 1

And that’s why when you go back to the Bible, was it Matthew 714, my favorite verse that says broad is the way that leads to destruction and narrow is the way that leads to life and few there we find it. And so we have to be careful that we’re not just believing every wind of doctrine that we study these things for ourselves.

Speaker 2

There’s no safety. No safety being with the masses. If you went with the masses during Noah’s time, you would have died in the flood. And the Bible says that again and again. Rarely do the masses do it right. There’s a word that Bible talks about for God’s people. They’re called the Remnant Small group that actually does what’s right and actually follows the truth.

Speaker 1

Exactly. No 100% agree with that. And again, I totally think I really appreciate what you’re saying because I think that’s so important for us to recognize that, especially when it comes to the doctor of the Rapture, because I’ve had people that you’re good friends of mine that turned a different color when I just questioned it biblically and I’ve been basically unfriended or whatever. I didn’t fight with them. I just asked, like, how is this biblical? What do you make sense of this Scripture? And the response was never, here’s biblical evidence. It was just anger. And you’re wrong and you don’t know the Bible. You know what I mean? So you really have to stop and take a step back and be like, okay, what does the Bible really say? Let’s think about this rationally and clearly and not with emotion and taking in that maybe you were raised with these doctrines in your family or the church you grew up in that were taught to you by nice people that you love.

Speaker 2

Beliefs might be genuine. Yeah, we’re not questioning that. We’re not saying you’re dumb.

Speaker 1

Not saying, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 2

Liar. Hypocrite. But yeah, Jesus said, do not be deceived. There’s so much deception. Satan is so out there working to deceive us and get us against each other. That’s what you always got to keep in mind. There is a deceiver out there working hard non stop, like warring lion to devour us.

Speaker 1

Exactly. And you think about in the Bible that the example we have of what we should be doing as Christians are that of the burials. It says they study the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so they were studying the Scripture to see if what the apostles were saying was actually true. These apostles would bring up, hey, Jesus is the Christ. He is the messiah. And they were like, well, let’s base this on Scripture. And based on their study of Scripture, they came to believe it. And because of that, their foundation was sure. And we have to be really careful when we look at any doctor. I mean, just because me when you’re saying these things, study it for yourself. That’s definitely what I would say. Don’t trust what we’re saying just because we said it, but rather take what we said. Go to the Bible, study it for yourself, and come to your own conclusion. Because really and truly, that’s the only way to know God, to know his truth for yourself.

Speaker 2

Absolutely. He gave us that Bible to be the one anchor. We can have the truth. Otherwise yeah, we could be blown all around every which way. Definitely.
