Did the Catholic National say the Pope’s Christ?

Full Question: In 1895, an article from the Catholic National stated: The Pope is not only the representative of Jesus Christ, but he is Jesus Christ, Himself, hidden under the veil of flesh. Not that I don’t think it’s true but where can I find the original quote or an online photo of the paper article that used this quote?

Answer: The quote from the Catholic National is shared around on the internet. But since we don’t have the primary resource documentation, we won’t be able to share that. However, the oldest publication that seems to quote this is from the 1896 issue of “Publications of the Catholic Truth Society” volume 29 share, which has been scanned in the Google Archives. Below is a screenshot of that quote:

A-In the Time Magazine, the article entitled Hand of Terrorism, By George J. Church, et al… It stated: “shooting the Pope—It’s like shooting God.”

B-Cardinal Sarto, who became Pope Pius X said, “The Pope represents Jesus Christ Himself…”

A letter from Cardinal Giuseppe Sarto (who became Pope Pius X in 1903) as quoted in Publications of the Catholic Truth Society Volume 29 (Catholic Truth Society: 1896): 11.

C-In 1512 Christopher Marcellus said this to Pope Julius II:
