That is a very intense question and I will point you to the scripture because I was ready for this one. That’s the question I thought I was getting last time. So let’s go to John 17 three and let’s look at a few verses and I’ll let the Bible speak for itself. John 17 three says and this is life or eternal life, that they may know you. Jesus is speaking to the Father, the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. So to have eternal life to be saved, you have to know the Father and you need to know the Son, you need to know God. Now, what does that even mean, to know God? So let’s go on to one John chapter two, verses three and four. So again, first John, chapter two, verses three and four. And it reads now by this we know that we know Him if we keep his commandments. So this is a huge piece in knowing God is keeping his commandments. And it says in verse four, he who says this is on point. He who says I know Him and does not keep his commandments is a liar and the truth is not in him.

So if somebody is saying, yeah, I’m a Christian, I go to church, I do these things, I sit on the church board, I play church basketball, I give in the offering plate. But they don’t keep God’s commandments. That is, by their fruits you shall know them. And so these are the fruits that you can say in testing yourself. First of all, you don’t want to just finger point at other people, but these are some indicators of whether or not somebody is right with God if they really know Him. And if somebody is lying, trying to murder somebody, definitely not signs of somebody who knows God. And the thing is, this breaks my heart, because there are so many people out there who go to church that proclaim to be a Christian and are the most not Christ like people. I’ve met people outside of the church in the world that are much more loving and Christlike than people often in the church. And at first I was like, well, God, this doesn’t make sense. But when I kept reading the Bible and learning the truth, what I had to keep realizing was that Jesus actually warned us of this.

He said, there’s many wolds in sheep’s clothing, we have to be very careful. And he actually made this prediction of when he came again in Matthew chapter seven. He makes this statement in Matthew seven, starting in verse 21 through 27. I’ll read through it pretty quick, so let’s go there really quick. Matthew 721 through 27, jesus is talking about his second coming, and he says, not everyone who says to me, lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father in heaven, many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name, in your name? Have we not cast out demons in Your name and done many wonders in your name? Then I will declare to them, I never knew you depart from me, you who practice lawlessness. Basically those who break the commandments like we just read. And in verse 24 to 27, Jesus is something very interesting. It says, therefore, whoever hears these things of mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock, and the rain defended, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house and did not fall, for it was founded on the rock, which we know the rock is Jesus.

But in verse 26 it says, but everyone who hears these things of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand and the rain is settled. The floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, and it fell, and great was its fall. So those who are proclaiming to be Christians calling themselves Christians, going to church, even you can be in the church board. I’ve met plenty of deacons and elders, and I’m like, I pray for you. I pray God. I’ve had to confront some chaplains before and be like, hey, the things you’re saying, the things you’re doing are not in harmony with the Bible. You have to say the most loving way. But the thing is, just because somebody goes to church, just because somebody puts on a cross necklace or says they’re a Christian, that doesn’t make them saved. It doesn’t ensure salvation. And just one last quick verse, just to answer your question straight from the Bible. If you look at John chapter three, verse 15, jesus is something very clear. Here John chapter 315, and it reads, I’m sorry.

Okay. So first, John 15. Three. This is the verse I’m looking for. It says, whoever hates his brother is a murderer. And you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. So you’re saying that this person is trying to poison somebody. That’s an act of murder. And even if they didn’t achieve it, they definitely had motive in their heart. They had that hatred of somebody in their heart enough to hurt somebody. And Jesus says, even if you hate somebody in your heart, that makes you a murder. And it says very clearly that no murder has any part has eternal life in them. And so we have to be very careful when we talk to people about these things because we can’t come across as just like you’re not saved, you’re lost, because we can’t determine someone’s salvation. Only God can do that. And we need to approach people, though, in loving kindness, speaking the truth, and love for the salvation of their soul. And I know the Bible talks about rebuking somebody basically snatching them from the fire with a strong ammunition. Sometimes you do have to be bold and just flat out tell them, hey, this is a sin and if you don’t confess this, you don’t forsake this sin, you will be lost.

It’s okay to be honest and tell the truth, but do it in a way where it’s not because you’re attacking them and just looking down on them, but it’s because you love them and you want them to be saved. So I hope this answers your question because I know, at least for myself, growing up, I grew up around a lot of people who claim to be Christians. And I went to a Christian school where a lot of these classmates I went to school with I thought were Christians because they said so. But what they really were were kids who are really good at pretending to be Christians in front of their parents and teachers, but behind closed doors were just demons. But they were really good at being good on the front, but not so nice on the inside. I think looking back, I wish that I would have been able to reach them in a way that would have won them back to Jesus. Because I think that that’s a huge ministry that really needs to happen out there, is calling people who are in the church or in the Christian circles back to a right relationship with God and teaching people to examine themselves so to know whether or not they’re saved.

Because if we can deceive ourselves in believing we’re Christians, just like Jesus said in Matthew seven, that we can say, Lord, I went to church in your name, I did all these things, I paid offering, but that doesn’t mean we know God. So I just want to encourage you, my friend Tina, my fellow Tina, that I’m assuming you’re talking about somebody else, that if you want to call this person back to a right walk with God, that you do so in a loving way because you care for them and their salvation.
