Can we be sinless while still on this earth?

Here is the good news of the gospel: God not only help us be sinless, but He also gives us complete victory over its power. This is summed up in the following verse, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). God not only forgives our sin, but also cleanses us from it. This cleansing is a complete removal of it from our lives.

When we accept Christ into our lives, the Bible says, “”Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

To experience victory over sin, we need to claim the promises of God by faith. “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (2 Peter 1:4). The sequence of victory is plainly outlined in this amazing text. By faith in the promise we become partakers of the divine nature, and through the power of that new nature in us we are able to escape the corruption of sin. In other words, everything depends on our surrender and commitment to the indwelling Spirit of Christ.

“Without me,” Jesus said, “ye can do nothing” (John 15:5). But, if we abide in Christ, we can declare triumphantly, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” (Philippians 4:13). The phrase “All things” means power over drugs, immorality, appetite, pride, fear, and every sin that would rob us of eternal life. If we lose our connection with God, we lose the supply of grace. But as long as we stay connected to God daily through prayer, study of His word, and ministry, we can experience victory. “He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit…” (John 15:5).

The Lord also promised that He will give us “exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20). In fact, the promises are unlimited as He says you will “be filled with all the fullness of God” (verse 19). The human mind can’t even fully comprehend the greatness of grace that is provided for victory. The Lord assures us that we can be “saved to the uttermost” (Hebrews 7:25), be “more than conquerors” (Romans 8:37) and “always triumph” (2 Corinthians 2:14).

“For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.  For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith” (1 John 5: 3-4).
