Knowing God’s Will
There are several ways that can help you know God’s will for your life:
1-God’s Word: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119:105). As you pray and seek the Lord through the reading of His Word, He will show you His plan ( Psalm 23:2-3, 25:5, 43:3, 139:24, and 143:10).
2-God’s small voice: “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6). Listen to God’s voice in your heart as you meditate on His Word.
3-God’s wisdom: “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” (James 1:5). God’s wisdom is sanctified common sense. It’s having the mind of Christ. It’s applying and knowing the principles of God’s Word.
4-The counsel of Christian people: “Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end” (Proverbs 19:20 also 13:10;6:20-23;11:14). Listen to the counsel of your godly parents and church leaders.
5-Open and closed doors: “for a wide door for effective service has opened to me, and there are many adversaries” (1 Corinthians 16:9).
6- Signs: “Then he (Gideon) said to Him, “If now I have found favor in Your sight, then show me a sign that it is You who talk with me” (Judges 6:17). Ask the Lord to show you a sign that will help you know His will. But remember that a sign should not be relied on to find God’s will without applying the previous points.
7-Trust and Praise God: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, saith the LORD” (Jeremiah 29:11-14). God has a good plan for your life. Trust in His love.
