The Flying Speed of Angels
The Bible indicates that angels can fly even faster than the speed of light. We have a reference to that in Daniel 9:21,22 where it says “Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation. And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding.”
When Daniel started his prayer, God, instantly sent Gabriel, who stands at the His presence, with the answer (Luke 1:19). How comforting to know that heaven can be made very near to earth. Whenever we need help and ask for it, the Lord commissions His holy angels to come to our aid without delay. David, wrote, ”For He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways” (Psalm 91:11).
The Nature of Angels
Angels are different form of beings than humans. Angels are spirit beings. They are created a little higher than man (Hebrews 2:7). They are sent to help humans. “Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?” (Hebrews 1:14). They are spirit beings without physical bodies but at times may take a physical form to appear to men (Genesis 19:1). The Bible does not state that angels are created in the image and likeness of God, as humans are (Genesis 1:26).
Although they do not have physical bodies, they are still personalities. They have intelligence (Matthew 8:29; 2 Corinthians 11:3; 1 Peter 1:12), emotions (Luke 2:13; James 2:19; Revelation 12:17), and exercise will (Luke 8:28-31; 2 Timothy 2:26; Jude 6). And the good angels are subject to God.
Because they are created beings, their knowledge is limited. This means they do not know all things as God (Matthew 24:36). Angels (good and evil) have watched humans for thousands of years, because of that they have acquired knowledge of human behavior and understand the Bible (Revelation 12:12; James 2:19).
