Some of the False Teachings of Babylon
Some of the most prominent teachings of Protestantism today are not found in the Bible at all. They have been brought into the Protestant churches by the mother church of Rome or Babylon, who received them from paganism. Here are a few of the false teachings of Babylon:
A. Salvation by works
The Bible teaches, “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified” (Galatians 2:16).

B. The law of God has been amended or repealed.
The Bible teaches that God’s law can never be changed or repealed (Luke 16:17).

C. The immortality of the soul
The Bible mentions “soul” and “spirit” 1,700 times. Not once is either referred to as immortal. People are mortal (Job 4:17). Only God is immortal (1 Timothy 6:16). and none receive immortality until Jesus’ second advent (1 Corinthians 15:51-54).

D. Eternal hell
The Bible teaches that sinners will be completely consumed (put out of existence), both soul and body, in the fire (Matthew 10:28). An eternal hell of torment is not taught in the Bible.

E. Baptism by immersion not necessary
Baptism by immersion is the only baptism recognized by Scripture.

F. Sunday – God’s holy day
The Bible teaches that God’s holy day is the seventh-day Sabbath, Saturday.

G. Confessions to a priest
The Bible teaches that sins should be confessed only to God who alone can forgives sins (1 John 1:9).

H. Counterfeit baptisms
The Bible teaches that baptism by immersion is the only baptism accepted by God (Mark 1:9, 10; Acts 8:38, 39).
I. Confusion of tongues
There are only three actual examples of speaking in tongues recorded in the Bible (Acts 2, 10, and 19). If we look at these three cases, and compare it with what is happening today in some churches, we will see that this gift was given to share the gospel with those who had a language barrier with the apostles.

J. Intercessions of the saints
The Bible teaches that Jesus is the only mediator “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5).

These false teachings of Babylon, once believed, bring “confusion” (which is what the term “Babylon” literally means) and make the understanding of Scripture much more difficult.
