All the words of the Bible are inspired by God. The Bible Declares: “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Timothy 3: 16, 17). “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” (2 Peter 1: 21).
There are internal and external evidences that the Bible is God’s Word:
Table of Contents
A-The Internal Evidences
1-Its unity and harmony. Even though the Bible contains sixty-six individual books, written in three different languages, on three continents, over a period of approximately 1500 years, by more than 40 authors who came from different walks of life, it remains one unified book from beginning to end without contradiction. This unity sets the Bible apart from all other religious books as an evidence of its divine origin.
2-Its prophecies. The Bible contains hundreds of precise prophecies relating to the future of individual nations including Israel, certain cities, and mankind. Other prophecies concern the coming of the Messiah. There are over three hundred prophecies concerning Jesus Christ in the Old Testament that came to pass with very accurate fulfillment. Unlike the prophecies given by men, biblical prophecies are extremely detailed and precise. There is no other religious book with the type of predictive prophecy that the Bible contains.
3-Its authority. This authority and power are best seen in the way countless lives have been transformed by it. Sinners are changed into saints through its power.
B-External Evidences
1-The historicity of the Bible. Through both archaeological and historical evidences, the historical accounts of the Bible have been proven over time to be accurate and true.
2-The integrity of its writers. These writers were honest and sincere. And the fact that they were willing to die for what they believed testifies that these ordinary men truly believed God had spoken to them. No man will give up his life for something that is not true.
3-The Bible’s survival through the ages. The Bible has suffered more attempts to destroy it than any other book in history, yet it is still today the worlds best-selling and most widely distributed book. Jesus declared, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away” (Mark 13:31).
