Angels and Numbers
Some people teach that seeing numbers over and over again, for example on license plates, bill boards, phones and lottery tickets, means that angel guides are trying to give them specific messages. But what does the Bible say about that?
Numerology and seeking mediums for guidance are occult activities. The spirit guides that spiritualists see are not guardian angels. They are, in fact, demonic spirits that the Bible clearly forbids us to contact as seen in the following verses:
“Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the Lord your God” (Leviticus 19:31).
“A man or a woman who is a medium or a necromancer shall surely be put to death. They shall be stoned with stones; their blood shall be upon them” (Leviticus 20:27).
“There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you. You shall be blameless before the Lord your God” (Deuteronomy 18:10–13).
Instead of seeking guidance from these demonic entities, the believer should seek guidance from:
First- God. “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him” (James 1:5).
Second- The Scriptures that are “profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16–17).
Third- Godly leaders in the church (1 Corinthians 11:1).
The devil is ever trying to deceive us by superstitious ideas but our safety lies in our adherence to the truth. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105).
